Systems & Mechanics Game Design 6-12 Month Contract Position Our client's Gaming division is looking for a dynamic and experienced Systems and Mechanics Game Designer who has the passion to create the world's greatest games. The Designer will focus on supporting creative visionaries across multiple projects to solve interactive problems within game systems and/or mechanics design for the industry's most exciting and innovative new input device. Game Designers push innovation and thought leadership, and partner with world class Developers to launch new franchises worthy of first party development. This revolutionary new input device that will challenge us and our partners to rethink how we design for interactive entertainment. The Publishing Game Designer will use their extensive experience to partner and collaborate with the industry's best Developers and join a group dedicated to excellence, teamwork and launching industry changing interactive experiences. Responsibilities: Ensure that the final product quality around systems, mechanics, and/or technical designs meets the high expectations of the Gaming division's first party titles. Support the development of the partner's creative vision, offering creative solutions and ideas. Work effectively with the Design Director, Development Director, Art Director, Audio Director, User Research Lead, User Experience Lead, Executive Producer, PM(s) and any other key leads to determine project design specifications and to ensure successful product execution. Evangelize, present, and communicate design status of owned projects to the company's larger organization and Senior Management team. Contribute innovative and creative design ideas to specific titles and across the games portfolio. Lead, when necessary, the patent process around any new solutions to systems, mechanics, or technical design problems. Perform due diligence trips with potential development partners and provide critical and creative insight and feedback on any new game concepts. Requirements: Required Skills for this Publishing Game Designer position includes the following: 5+ years of Entertainment industry experience. Significant and proven systems, mechanics, and/or technical design skills. Excellent analytical vision that can be channeled and adapted to any type of game. Comprehensive understanding of games, game players and gameplay mechanics, combined with an ability to identify, analyze and rectify game design and gameplay issues. Strong understanding of design, development, art and audio disciplines. World class knowledge of standard industry game engines, design toolsets and production pipelines. Strong Unreal 3 engine experience. Creative leader who can operate and collaborate to the highest standard within a team structure. Open-minded approach to design and display the ability to challenge convention. Forward thinking and have the flexibility to research and undertake any project. Ability to take complete systems, mechanics, or technical design responsibility and ownership of a project and guide it through to completion - seeking out, evaluating and implementing feedback from all relevant sources to constantly improve and refine the title. Have shipped at least one AAA title from a systems, mechanics, or technical design lead position. Strong verbal, written and organizational skills.
